Nanaimo RCMP say they are grateful people are providing information on the whereabouts of a missing 22-year-old, but tips should be sent to police for follow up.
Police say Sherry Corrigal went missing in September, and a full-time team has been assigned to her case, but despite the number of tips they have not been able to locate her.
Constable Simon Gallimore says offering tips is one thing, but they should all be forwarded to the police for vetting and verification.
“Police are aware of social media posts going around asking people to contact persons, other than police, with information,” Gallimore says. “This has resulted in numerous unsubstantiated rumours circulating about what may have happened.”
Corrigal is described as approximately five feet tall, 90 to 100 pounds with long dark hair. She can be recognized by distinct tattoos on her arms, hands and back.

Police say anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
