New playground coming to elementary school in Sechelt

Students at Davis Bay Elementary school will soon have a new place to play.

NDP MLA for Powell River – Sunshine Coast Nicholas Simons said a new playground will soon be accessible for the elementary school’s children.

Simons said it’s important for all children to be able to have access to safe and fun areas to play while at school.

“Every student deserves a playground that is safe, accessible, and fun and that’s why I’m so glad that this new playground will be designed for children of all abilities.”

Simons added it’s important for parents to spend less time fundraising and more time playing with their kids.

This comes as a part of the 26 new playgrounds being built in 26 school districts around B.C., with each district receiving $195,000.

This is the second playground built in the area in two years, with Kinnikinnick Elementary also receiving funding for a now completed playground.
