City of Nanaimo cuts the ribbon on new pickleball courts this week

This Thursday the City of Nanaimo is hosting a grand opening event for Beban Park’s new Pickleball Courts.

The event kicks off at 12:30 p.m. and will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and pickleball clinics for beginners and advanced players.

Earlier this year the city decided to move the courts from Beaufort Park after noise complaints from neighbors.

The new facility has 8 courts and anti-slip sports coating and cost the city $533,700.

The city says the former Beaufort pickleball courts will be converted into mixed-use youth courts.
