The City of Nanaimo is starting a project to create a plan for the Woodgrove area, and they say public input is needed before going ahead with the agenda.
According to the city, the plan is to transform the area into a vibrant urban centre with a mix of residential, commercial, park, recreational and cultural components.
They say the plan is part of an initiative for future development in the area and will provide a more provide a more detailed land use policy for guidance, and residents can have their say through an online survey.
Mayor Leonard Krog says the development plan will address six centres in the area, and the plan will help give clear directions for the future.
“City Plan identifies six Secondary Urban Centres, including the Woodgrove Area, to become dynamic complete communities where development is encouraged,” he says. “The Woodgrove Area Plan will be an important guide and provide clarity for the future of the area.”
According to the city, the survey is now open and will be active until Apr. 7 and can be found on the City’s Get Involved Nanaimo site.
