An early morning break-in in Lantzville has Nanaimo RCMP searching for two suspects.
Around 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, a Lower Lantzville homeowner heard noises from outside his bedroom and got up to investigate it.
R/Cst. Gary O’Brien said when the man opened his bedroom door he came face to face with an adult man and woman.
“He immediately yelled at them, they immediately dropped what they were carrying then turned and ran from the house.”
O’Brien added the homeowner said the thieves’ reactions made it seem like they thought the home was not occupied at the time.
The homeowner then went to a Neighbour’s home to call the police because his phone line was tampered with and not working.
When officers arrived, they were not able to locate the suspects and determined they used a pry bar to enter through the garage.
A portable Coleman camp stove, three frozen pizzas, and a black pellet gun were taken from the home.
The only available description of the suspects in the man was heavy set and anyone with information is asked to contact Nanaimo RCMP’s non-emergency line.
